Bluegrass. Country. Pop. Rock.
“Overkill” is pulsing pop song that’s perfect for a summer playlist. It’s about taking chances in a relationship that’s about to end, because you think there’s nothing to lose. That is, until that chance starts to feel like something you never want to lose. In this song, I tried to capture the feeling of summer approaching and having a fun, casual thing turn into something more – unexpectedly. The lyrics toggle between denial and self-realization; what seemed like the end turned into the beginning.
Overkill is a pulsing, summer pop song. I tried to capture the feeling of summer approaching and having a fun, casual thing unexpectedly turn into something more. The lyrics toggle between denial and self-realization; what seemed like the end might actually be the beginning. I wrote this in the studio, while working on another song. Randy Slaugh, my co-producer, was listening to me strum chords on my guitar as I recorded lyrics on a voice memo. I didn’t realize it, but before I knew it, he had created a pop track on the fly to match what I was writing – it was magic!
Played this one at the National Old Time Fiddle Contest in Weiser.
I KEEP CHANGING is a great workout song -- perfect to run to. It's about change and seeking self-acceptance in a world of impossible expectations. I wrote this on piano, but true to the song, it changed into something edgier during production, adding distorted guitars and intense drums to go along with a pop vibe.
“One More Night” is an indie rock ballad about unresolved feelings and longing that come after a breakup. With a little help from a consoling roommate, I wrote this song in a stairwell after a college breakup. It was a good relationship, but it ended badly. I hated how the ending overshadowed the good times that I hoped to remember. I wanted one more night to leave it on a better note.
Got to play this original tune at the world famous Station Inn in Nashville - a mecca for bluegrass. Had a great time with Grant Brown and the Belmont University World Fiddle Ensemble.

Raised in rural Idaho, she grew up getting her hands dirty on her family farm and corn maze. At a young age, she took that country work ethic on the road to win old-time fiddle championships in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah. Currently studying Commercial Music at Belmont University, she's playing gigs around Nashville, in the studio recording with artists across genres, and just released her first single, “One More Night”, a pop/rock song, on all streaming platforms.
Tessa loves country music and playing bluegrass, Celtic, and Americana music on the fiddle, but her originals are inspired by artists like Gracie Abrams, Alix Page, and Lennon Stella, with echoes of Foo Fighters, Coldplay, and Blink-182.
Written and performed with my sisters.
